Cloud Agnostic and Some of Its Merits and Demerits

People should know that they should not make mistakes with any kind of cloud-enabled applications, cloud-native applications are the ones that are mainly created for the cloud. Their inception began with the cloud and they are deployed and work their best in the cloud. Besides that, studies reveal that cloud-native applications are more likely to become a standard with the passage of time, with over 90% of all new applications using cloud-native structures. Besides that, an estimated over 35% of all the production apps will be on cloud-native by 2022. One of the things that you should know is that cloud-native solutions are most of the time viewed as a more appealing option since there are a lot of advantages of the same in the clouds. They are designed in such a fashion that they can host multi-tenant instances. Besides that, they are cheaper than any other cloud-enabled applications.

Cloud-Native and Agnostic – Difference

In addition, you can use interchangeably the cloud-native and cloud-enabled system, though you will find that there is a difference between the two. Besides that, vendors are there who offer cloud-enabled apps and they can pass them off as cloud-native. Cloud-native is a more known option on the market level and is an easy way for the trendy applications and practices of infrastructure.

Having a cloud agnostic platform means creating your architecture to use everything. It also includes open source technologies and portable components. In addition, this architecture is created, so that the users are able to change the providers or switch even permit the use of several cloud providers or more than one cloud provider simultaneously. It is not like a cloud-native solution, where the users are at the mercy of the cloud providers. With cloud-agnostic, you have all the kinds of freedom to choose your own path.

Some of the Merits of Cloud Agnostic –

One of the biggest merits of cloud-agnostic is that you can easily change from or move from one cloud provider to the other cloud provider, and in some cases, you will just have to export your information or details from one platform to the other. So, this becomes the pivotal reason for the companies to switch to cloud-agnostic from cloud-native solutions. With cloud-agnostic, you can expect consistent performance when moving between the platforms. On on-premise applications, you can easily migrate through cloud-agnostic. Redundancies are enhanced with cloud-agnostic.

Some of the Demerits of the Cloud Agnostic –

Cloud agnostic is more costly compared to the architecture of cloud-native. However, that’s not the case always. It is tedious to create a highly accessible or available architecture and there is a need for the use of a cloud-native solution. If you are flipping between the vendors, then also you will not be able to take the complete benefit of the capacities of a single vendor. Multiple platforms will be required to be monitored and it will be the responsibility of your team.
